The conference "Women Solidarity for Democracy" was organized by the Permanent Secretariat of the Community of Democracies under the auspices of Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, the Mayor of Warsaw on 13th September in Warsaw.

The conference “Women Solidarity for Democracy” discussed and analyzed challenges confronting women in the rapidly changing world. Women face extraordinary challenges and assume special responsibility in countries ruled by undemocratic methods. Conference participants wanted to express their solidarity and show their support for actions intended to develop democracy and modernize societies in the world (including in Iran). The conference had two thematic panels: “The role of women in democratic movements” and “How the world can help?” The conference was attended by many women from different countries, including Poland, the United States, Ireland, Belarus, Lebanon, Russia, France, Israel, and Lithuania. It was also attended by Iranian women intellectuals living outside their homeland. The Conference was also attended by representatives of the International Steering Committee of the Community of Democracies, the Washington-based Council for a Community of Democracies and by an envoy of the Lithuanian Chair of the Community of Democracies.
