Our countries

In 2000, 106 countries took part in the Warsaw Ministerial Conference, which marked the creation of the Community of Democracies. At this meeting, participating states signed the Warsaw Declaration and declared their support of the shared democratic values set forth by the Community.
 
The Community of Democracies believes that democracy undergoes a process of constant improvement through sharing and learning. Therefore, the Community bases its decisions regarding the participation of states on an inclusive approach, aiming to offer a forum for dialogue among committed actors. These participants occupy a diverse range of characteristics, from established democracies to new ones; from big states to small countries; and from locations extending north to south and west to east.

Among the dozens of countries that participate in the activities of the Community of Democracies, 29 devoted countries form the Community's Governing Council, and act as the leaders of the Community:
