How India manages the world’s biggest elections – a panel debate at the Permanent Secretariat

The biggest election process in the world’s history is taking place these days in India: 814 million voters, 930 thousand polling stations, and nine phases spreading over more than an entire month, in what seems like an almost impossible logistic and political operation. What challenges does the biggest democracy in the world face on its way to the ballots, and how does it overcome those difficulties, becoming one of the biggest success stories in the conduction of elections? These were the main questions under discussion in a special panel hosted by the Permanent Secretariat of the Community of Democracies, in cooperation with the Embassy of India in Warsaw.
